Considering a whole new shower installation

If you’re considering a whole new installation and you’ve done everything correct, you may not need shower resealing at all. If the water drain holes in your walls are the problem you need to fix, resealing is unnecessary. Most of the time, the leak in the plumbing is the culprit. If you have a large enough hole to cover the water drain completely, and the leak isn’t caused by the tiles on the wall, there’s no point in resealing them, even if you put a resealing solution in them.

Some people do recommend resealing for leak detection. If you have a shower that has become slightly clogged with hair or other debris, a little bit of resealing may be necessary to remove any build up. Another reason for resealing is if the leak detection device in your home is making constant noise. In this case, simply replacing the device should solve the problem. The only time it’s advisable to replace it is if the problem is severe enough to require structural repairs.

There are lots of things that could be causing your shower leaks, including structure problems, poor installation techniques or poor materials. Whatever the cause is, there’s a good chance you’ll need a little bit of help. Even if you think you’ve fixed the problem on your own, you never know how far reaching the issue will be unless you get professional help. And if you do call in the professionals, they won’t be able to give you a guarantee that your bathroom renovation will save you money in the long run. So the best advice is to do some extensive research into the subject. And if you’ve tried everything under the sun, you may as well try shower sealing.
