Corgi dogs are a beautiful and popular breed of dog

Originating from Italy, these adorable little dogs are well known for their friendly disposition, excellent agility and intelligence and even the fact that they are extremely loving and willing to please their owners. Corgis are a very popular choice for a family pet since they can mix well with other breeds such as a mastiff or a bulldog since they have many of the same characteristics of these breeds. However, unlike many other breeds of dogs, the Corgi is not aggressive and does not harbor any form of hostile behavior towards people or other animals. They are very friendly dogs that enjoy spending time with their families. Because of their small size, they are great pets for small homes and very good for beginners because they do not need a huge yard to run around in.

In terms of their coats, Corgi dogs have an almond shaped coat that is waterproof and soft, giving them a nice comfortable feeling against the skin. Their coats come in two colors; the first being the solid color of black or chestnut and the second being the flatter Pembroke Welsh color that is more sandy in its look. Although all Corgi dogs are Pembroke Welsh, the difference between the two colors lies on the coloring of their legs. The Alaskan red coated Corgi dogs are considered to be the most rare of the Corgi dogs while the Corgi dogs with the flatter Pembroke Welsh coat are much more common and are found in every single American household.

Corgis make wonderful pets for family members as well as those that enjoy the sport of dog agility. Their small size makes them ideal for indoor dog agility competitions and shows where agility is a big part of the action. Corgi dogs are also very good with children because of their friendly and outgoing personality, making them a great choice for daycare. When owning a Corgi pup, you will need to keep in mind that they have a temper and will exhibit some very loud and disruptive behavior when around large crowds of people. If you are living in a city with a small population or do not have a lot of room to dedicate to a Corgi dog, then chances are good that a standard terrier such as a Yorkie, Miniature Schnauzer or Pomeranian will be more suited to your needs as they are more placid by nature and make much better companions than a Corgi.
