Flatbed Tow Truck – Is a Better Option Than a Wheel Lift?

Flatbed Tow trucks are safer than standard tow truck tows. The requirement to restructure the vehicles due to towing is much less probable with flatbed tow truck than standard tow truck. There is also a marked difference in the overall size of both the tow vehicles. A flatbed is generally more compact and can even fit in a regular automobile trunk whereas a standard truck is much larger and will require a separate space. This makes flatbed a more flexible option for towing needs.

With the popularity of these two vehicles, one may often hear about both flatbed and standard towing. They are very different from each other in their basic features and uses. Standard towing involves towing very heavy vehicles that are being towed behind another vehicle. These tend to be very time consuming and use tires with low rolling resistance, limited speed capabilities and poor maneuverability.

In contrast, flatbed towing involves towing lighter trailers which are easier and more convenient because they do not require to be towed by another vehicle. It is often used when towing a single small trailer. There are different variations of flatbed towing. One type towing involves the towing of a trailer without the use of rollers or tracks, which are ideal for light trailers. Another variation towing involves using tracks, rollers and some even hooking the trailer into a smaller vehicle.
